What wood is the AMADEA wooden spatula made from?

The AMADEA wooden spatula is made from solid beech wood, 28 cm long and 5 cm wide. Beech is a strong, dense and hygienic wood with minimal pores, so it does not absorb odours or grease. It weighs 30 g, so you can handle it comfortably with one hand. The beech spatula comes from sustainably managed Czech sources and is made in the AMADEA sheltered workshop.

How big is the spatula and which pans is it suitable for?

The spatula is 28 cm long, its flipping blade is 5 cm wide and it weighs 30 g. This small 28 cm wooden spatula is versatile — it fits standard pans of 24–32 cm in diameter. It is great for flipping pancakes, drop scones, eggs, vegetables and smaller pieces of meat. It is especially suited to non-stick pans, where metal or sharp edges would scratch Teflon or ceramic coatings.

Can I put the wooden spatula in the dishwasher?

Please do not put the wooden spatula in the dishwasher. High temperatures and prolonged contact with water will cause the beech to swell, crack or warp. Simply rinse it in warm water with a drop of washing-up liquid and dry it straight away with a tea towel. With proper care it will serve you for many years. Wood also has natural antibacterial properties, so intensive „disinfecting" washing is not needed.

How should I care for an untreated wooden spatula?

The spatula comes without varnish or oil, so you can choose how to treat it yourself. We recommend rubbing the wood with food-safe oil (linseed, sunflower or a wood oil intended for kitchen utensils) roughly once a month and leaving it to soak in overnight. This care prevents the wooden spatula from drying out, turning grey and cracking. Before first use, simply rinse it in lukewarm water and dry it thoroughly.

Why is a beech spatula better than a plastic or silicone one?

Unlike plastic and silicone alternatives, a beech spatula releases no microplastics or plasticisers when heated. Wood is gentle on the non-stick surface of your pan and on your health. At the end of its life it is biodegradable and returns to nature. Cheaper plastic spatulas warp and crack from melting after a year or two, whereas a wooden one will last for decades with proper care.

Can I have my own design or dedication burned onto the spatula?

Yes, you can order the wooden spatula with a burned design directly in the basket. Choose from two options — text only (a name, a short message) or text together with an image or logo. The burning is done in our AMADEA sheltered workshop, so every piece is an original. A personalised spatula makes a lovely and practical gift for a birthday, wedding or Christmas.

Is the wooden spatula in stock and how is it delivered?

The spatula is always in stock and we dispatch it within 1–2 working days. For orders over 2 000 Kč weighing up to 5 kg, we ship free of charge anywhere in the Czech Republic. You can pay by card, bank transfer or cash on delivery. If the goods are not right for you, you have 30 days to return them without giving a reason.
